There is NO OTHER point to life other than to live for Christ

So this is my conclusion after 41 years of “wondering in the wilderness”. What a simple conclusion. I am not satisfied with my level of pursuit of all of Jesus. There is no greater pursuit of Him alone for myself and for my children.

Shake me at the core God. Help to stay the course God.

So what is AUTHENTIC Christianity

I have been musing a lot about this in my head recently. Certainly there is no conculsive opinion on this…I not looking for a certain brand or expression of Christianity – but I’m wanting to pursue AUTHENTICITY in my Church expression – it makes a big difference to a lot of people – and will probably make a difference to many in the future. I think the main ELEMENTS of autheticity are:

- A relentless pursuit of listening to the Holy Spirit – and speaking out what He says/instructs. Interestingly Jesus and the Father, through the Holy Spirit, don’t just speak – they instruct – so they need to be followed.

- A Christ centered focus. Well this may be a no brainer – but what it REALLY means is zero man – 100% Jesus. Zero manifestation of man’s opinion, domination, control, love of money – 100% pure Jesus.

- A pursuit of prayer, worship, intercession, evangelism

Do we operate out of: Function or Relationship

Well this is a question we are certainly working through at the moment. It’s come about out of working with some friends of ours in our local fellowship. I can’t be too specific.

It seems apparent to us, in recent months, that if you want to build any ministry of any sort there needs to be a deep level of trust between the workers of such ministry. After writing this line – it seems like a total no-brainer doesn’t it :-) what simple revelation!!

So what is more important then – function or relationship? Certainly there can be no effective work for Christ if there is no harmonius relationship. Jesus worked closely with his disciples and he trusted them even through times they showed such incredible weakness. Did he not send them on their own missions trip – even through he could see right through their humanity….

Focus on your relationships with fellow Christians – not what you do with them in function.

Prayer for South Africa

A very Powerful Father

Hi guys, we spent last Saturday praying in and around Cape Town city center – home to several strip clubs. With such a strong police presence in the city (because of the world cup) it’s meant most of the prostitutes and human trafficked victims have gone underground – the masters hiding them behind the fascade of the “store front”.

However, God is attentive to the cries of His Beloved Saints…the very club we prayed in front of was shut down….read below…..

Raid nets 35 ‘exotic dancers’, 17 patrons in S.Africa

South African authorities on Saturday arrested 35 Eastern European “exotic dancers “and 17 customers from several countries in a raid on a Cape Town review bar.

“The exotic dancers had been illegally issued with corporate permits, which are normally issued for farm and mine workers, to enter South Africa,” the department of home affairs said in a statement.
The dancers would be deported and the 17 patrons — seven local, one Briton, five Turkish, two Dutch, one Indian and one Chinese — will appear in court after it was found that “other illegal practices were in progress on the premises”.

Department spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa said the patrons were “all male and caught engaging in sexual operations.”

The raid was carried at the Arabesque Review Bar in the city centre in the early hours of Saturday.
Cape Town set up a vice squad ahead of the World Cup to crack down on prostitution in the city.

Our Call – pray for the salvation of Israel

I was listening to some teaching today on Israel. It helped me stumble on a verse which shook me to the core. It is a simple exhortation given by God to Jeremiah. Jeremiah 31 v 10 “Hear the word of the LORD, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’

I am urged to proclaim this to my Nation. It is so not-politically-correct in South Africa – which is really sad. This government has (sadly) aligned itself with anti-semitic spiritual forces – and it pervades every fabric of the Church and our society. We have become so de-sensitised to the Biblical call to pray for and support our spiritual motherland – namely Israel.

I am severely challenged. We still do Friday night shabbat at our house. We are a happy band of shabbat-ers and we are going to celebrate the Passover with the children this coming Monday. We don’t always understand it but God has implanted a firm seed in us. We find a strange security and deeper sense of belonging when we pray for Israel. We are not weird about it either.
